For the first time in its 34 year existence, the World Universities Debating Championship has allocated a slot for Northern Caribbean University (NCU) to participate. The staging will be held this year in Chennai, India.
This prestigious event takes place annually in different countries between universities all over the world. Representing NCU will be Tajay Ferguson and Mellisa Flinch who distinguished themselves at the UTECH National Debating Championships 2013: Tajay was voted Best Overall Speaker (of the competition) while the duo placed second overall. It is important to note that this was NCU’s first time using the new British Parliamentary style debate used internationally. This venture will however require significant financial input from several entities as the team is looking at a budget of approximately one point five million dollars for the four persons to attend. Help the NCU debate team to capitalise on this new opportunity; to journey to Chennai, India.
