1. Sound recording devices and explain how they worked:
Phonograph: A Phonograph is an instrument used for reproducing sounds by means of the vibration of a needle following a spiral groove on a revolving disc. 1. Explain the difference between AM and FM Radio. Say which one is used most widely and why.
AM refers to ‘Amplitude Modulation’ and FM refers to ‘Frequency Modulation’, but the major difference is already given in the names. AM works by modulating the amplitude of the signal transmitted, and FM differs because the information is encoded by the varying of the frequency of the wave while having constant amplitude. Its actually not a review. I just thought the concept was interesting and it's kinda fun, so I decided to share. The History of Television
The television has become an integral part of the basic home today. It has been the leading source of entertainment information and advertising for people of all ages. The television’s development began in the 1800s when the first mechanical module of television which was completed by Paul Gottlieb Nipkow. Nipkow’s success was due to the fact that he was able to transmit images through wires with the help of a rotating disk. Why were books important before the digital revolution? Are they still relevant?
Books were important because they were a source of media. Books provided individuals with facts, information and in some cases entertainment. Though the digital revolution allows the transfer of facts and information easily, the information that was transferred by books were factual and most times came from the source. (E.g. A writer who writes about her/his experience in a military camp) Books were used to keep track of history, events and laws for the population. How does the concept of the ‘Penny Press’ still influence the newspaper industry today?
The Penny Press still influences the newspaper industry today because the newspaper is still the cheapest source of information and entertainment produced by the media. The influence of the Penny Press allows the newspaper to be available not only to upper class citizens but to pay to have an availability of the entire public.
